Biography

Manuel is an Italian doublebassist based in London. He is attending a PGAD in double bass at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance mentored by M° Chris West.

He started playing the double bass at the age of thirteen at Conservatorio U. Giornano in Foggia studying with M° Massimiliano Mauthe.

In 2007 he moved to Trieste to study at Conservatorio G. Tartini under the guidance of M° Stefano Sciascia. In July 2014 he obtained a two-year Master Degree of Double bass with 110/110; always in Trieste in 2009 he attended the Double bass Diploma.

Between September and December 2012 he studied with the ERASMUS program at Trinity Laban with M° Chris West.

Manuel is getting more and more into chamber music; he recently started a duo with the friend and pianist Alvaro Siculiana, and the Mediterranean Piano Quintet with some colleagues from Trinity Laban.

In February 2013 he attended an audition for the YMSO in London for which he as been selected as co-principal double bassist.

He attended masterclasses with Enrico Fagone (Orchestra della Svizzera Italaina), Gary Karr, Nikša Bobetko (Zagreb Philarmonic Orchestra), Michael Klinghoffer (Jerusalem Accademy), Christine Hoock (Mozerteum Salzburg), Chris West (Trinity College London), Lasse Lagercratz (Sibelius Accademy, Helsinky), Dan Styffe (Oslo Music Accademy).

He has taken part of orchestral courses with the Accademia Musicale Pescarese and with Associazione Amici della Musica F. Fenaroli of Lanciano. Through this courses he has been selected to attend a tour in China with M. Lior Shambadal (conductor of Berliner Symphoniker) and a tour in Canada.

He has collaborated many years with Orchestra dell’Opera Giocosa of Trieste with whom he also had the opportunity to play the Bottesini’s Concerto n.2 and Rossini’s “Une Larme” as a soloist.

Manuel has been awarded with the Trinity College London Scholarship to whom he is very grateful.
